ALERT: 25 September 2003-- At least two bombs are still missing and believed to be in possession of members of the Indonesian terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah, the same group responsible for the 12 October 2002 blasts at a Bali nightclub. In the wake of the Marriott Hotel car bombing on August 5, 2003, police have been warned that there are still bombs that are unaccounted for and might be used in a one-year anniversary of the October 2002 blasts. Northeast Intelligence Network information analysts have picked up on an increasing amount of Internet communications from jihad forums and chat sites that suggest attacks are planned to coincide with the 12 October one-year anniversary. Targets include but are not limited to any western based businesses such as hotels, restaurant chains, or other symbols of western culture. This newly developed information is consistent with our finds detailed in our statement of 20 September 2003 (below). Based on an analysis of the communications, the Northeast Intelligence Network has raised this matter to an "ALERT" Status.
20 September 2003-- ALERT: Suicide/Homicide Bombing in Indonesia Imminent. Based on the information intercepts and the analysis of the same, the Northeast Intelligence Network finds a very significant threat against Indonesia between now and mid October. Jemaah Islamiyah, an al-Qaeda-linked terror group known to have active cells in operation throughout Southeast Asia will attempt to carry out these attacks against soft targets and western interests.
