"DEATH LIST" REMOVED FROM CONTROVERSIAL WEB SITE (Press Release) 11/29/2001 07/03/2000: Erie County Criminal Court Case #: 1999-03013: On April 19, 1999, a criminal complaint was filed against Roderick M. Jones, 36, 800 Block of Brown Avenue, Erie, PA under § 3932 of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code (Theft of Leased Property). The grading of this particular offense was M1 (First Degree Misdemeanor). A jury trial was held in the courtroom of The Honorable Judge Fred Anthony where a verdict of GUILTY was rendered on May 16th, 2000. At 8:45 a.m. on Monday, July 3rd, 2000, Mr. JONES was sentenced to serve one to six months in jail, make restitution of $858.00 and placed on two years probation. February 4, 1999: Erie Man Arrested: Craig M. Ellis, 44, of 324 West 20th Street, Erie, PA was arrested by Erie Police at 9:45 PM on Wednesday, February 3, 1999 at his residence and charged with a total of twelve (12) felony counts relating to cable piracy and theft. In two separate cases, Ellis was charged with three (3) felony violations of Pennsylvania Section 910, Manufacture, Distribution or Possession of Devices for Theft of Telecommunications Services, three (3) felony violations of Pennsylvania Section 3926, Theft of Services, three (3) felony violations of section 907, Possessing Instruments of a Crime, and three (3) violations of Section 3304, Criminal Mischief. He was arraigned today before District Magistrate Paul Urbaniak. Craig Ellis is one of several individuals who has been the focus of a 2-1/2 year undercover investigation performed by this agency on behalf of Erie Cablevision. According to Douglas Hagmann, Director of Hagmann Investigative Services, Inc., the arrest of Ellis is significant as he is a major suspect in a "significant" volume of the sales and modifications of illegal or "black" boxes which are used solely for the purpose of cable signal theft. "During our lengthy investigation, we have amassed a significant amount of documentation and evidence that links Ellis to other individuals as well, and we fully expect other arrests to be made as a result". This agency is committed to actively and aggressively investigate theft of cable services on behalf of Erie Cablevision, and will continue our efforts to this end. "We gratefully acknowledge and commend the aggressive approach taken by the Erie Police Department, and specifically, Detective Gerald McShane in the investigation and ultimate arrest of Ellis". 01/07/99: Erie Woman Sentenced: Pamela Mills-Smith, who was found guilty by a jury on November 20, 1998 of Receiving Stolen Property and violating Section 910 of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code relating to manufacturing, distributing or possessing devices for theft of telecommunications services was sentenced today by Erie County, PA judge Fred Anthony. For the conviction under section 910, Mills-Smith was sent to the Erie County Prison for a term of 30 days minimum to one year. She was also ordered to pay costs and make restitution in the approximate amount of $1,600.00. She was also placed on probation for a period of two years. For the conviction of Receiving Stolen Property, Mills-Smith was ordered to serve a minimum of 30 days to a maximum of 11-1/2 months in the Erie County Prison. In addition to costs and restitution, she will also be placed on probation for three years. The prison terms are consecutive, meaning that she must serve at least 60 days of her sentence. 12/17/98: Erie Businessman Sentenced: Erie businessman Kenneth G. Dougan was sentenced today by Judge John Bozza for his "no contest" plea to crimes involving the possession, sales and distribution of illegal cable boxes. Dougan was one of several individuals recently arrested as a result of an extensive undercover investigation involving this agency and the Pennsylvania State Police. On Count 1 under Section 910 of the PA Crimes Code, Dougan was ordered to serve 15 days incarceration followed by 90 days of electronic monitoring. He was also fined $1000.00 and ordered to serve 24 months probation. On Count 2 involving criminal conspiracy, Dougan was fined $500.00. On a third count, Dougan was sentenced to serve 24 months on probation consecutive to the above, fined $500.00, and was ordered to serve 100 hours of community service for each count.
