Here’s a story that you probably won’t see reported anywhere else nationally.
It provides one of the clearest insights yet into the fascist Maoist tactics of the Occupy ICE movement that has spread to more than a dozen cities around the country, with the purpose of demanding the abolition of ICE – the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency of the federal government.
What makes this story even more significant is the fact that the insane demands of the Occupy ICE movement are being increasingly embraced by some of the leading Democrat politicians in the country!
Occupy ICE began in Portland, Oregon one month ago. The tent city encampment of hundreds of demonstrators that has grown up adjacent to Portland’s ICE HQ succeeded in shutting down ICE’s legal operations for two weeks. Now it has taken down its first private business in the area – ironically, a non-profit food cart whose purpose was to use its proceeds to feed the homeless!
The Occupy ICE radicals who have set up a permanent camp – most of them drawn from the ranks of Marxists, socialists, Antifa, anarchists, the homeless, bums, and other riffraff who make up a significant part of Portland’s population – targeted the Happy Camper, a food cart run by Scott and Julie Hakes right across the street from ICE headquarters and the Occupy tent city. The food cart is part of the tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization that the Hakes’ set up.
As KATU2 in Portland reported, The Hakes’ “use the food cart to raise money for their non-profit organization, Operation Off The Grid, which helps the homeless around Portland.”
According to Operation Off The Grid’s Web site, the organization:
is a non profit 501C(3) Organization that was founded and put into action by Scott and Julie Hakes in 2017. Their passion stemmed from the two of them both living on the streets themselves in their past and always knew the time was right, they would give back to those in need. The organization was begun with the intentions of feeding Hungry individuals living on the streets of Portland Oregon and surrounding communities once a week.
According to reporting by three of Portland’s TV stations, Occupy ICE protesters began targeting the legal operation of the Happy Camper – most likely because employees of ICE were eating there. It mattered not that the purpose of the Hakes’ food cart was to collect money to feed the homeless.
The Hakes’ claim – supported by cell phone videos – is that that they have been threatened with violence by people from Occupy ICE. Their customers have been harassed and their business is down about 80% as a result.

The Hakes family has reported the harassment by Occupy ICE to Portland police who have been ordered by the leftist mayor of Portland to stand down as far as the filthy Occupy ICE tent city is concerned. No action to protect the private businesses in the area has been taken.
The only option left? The Hakes’ have decided to close their business The Happy Camper and try to sell their food cart at a substantial loss.
Listen up America: This is a clear case history of what these violent Communists aka Occupy ICE want to bring to this entire country: Intimidation and threats of violence to shut down legal businesses that don’t conform to the sick Marxist Maoist Communist agenda of Occupy ICE. And that agenda is increasingly gaining support from leading Democrat politicians in the United States.
Occupy ICE’s slogan is No ICE. No Borders. No Prisons. In fact, if Portland was not a lawless “People’s Republic,” and if the law was enforced there, the Occupy ICE illegal campers would be the ones to be in prison.
